Hi i have an LG 4X dvd burner model number GSA4040BI

And i was wondering if there is new firmwares out there to improve my burner. I have bought good 4X dvd-rs but the darn thing always burns at 2X???

Can somebody help me out here. I am new to this and to this forum,

I need help and not burns.

What brand are the good discs you bought? If it's a 4X burner it should burn at4X with 4X discs.

Hi mr_nasty, Here is a link for firmware for your drive, but the only thing it patches is to make it region free. If its newer than what you have now it may improve overall performance. Use at your own risk.

Looks like alot of other people on the net have some probs with this drive burning at 4x with dvd-r.

Peoples comments on this drive can be found here:

Some of them say the newest firmware,A302 has helped, but it does still writes at 2x sometimes depending on media.

Also some have said the patched firmware by the dangerous brother solved there problems.
