The GTX285 is utterly overpriced for what it is. What size monitor do you use? If you only use a 22", a single HD4870 or GTX260-216 will do the job fine.

on another note. is gpureview.com a good place for info? i see that on tiger direct it shows the video card having 2300mhz of memory. yet is shows it at 999mhz on gpureview. that is confusing me. i need a good place to compare cards so i can more less know i wont be waisting my money on something expensive.

For such a low resolution, you can get away fine with an HD4850, but an HD4870 will suffice both now, and in the future.

no offense but i rather have an nvidia card. most of my components are sli ready. including the motherboard. regarding the memory. is it the data rate or the memory core clock?

Which makes me shudder at even the thought of it, but that's another story.
At 1280x720 there is absolutely no reason to use SLI at all. Currently, ATI cards are cheaper for the same performance, take it or leave it.
