I have downloaded an mp4 file which l can't seem to burn (if you open my computer, the downloaded icon is the same as the views icon on the toolbar). I normally download .avi files and the icon takes on the format of my Windows Media Player icon.
If l double click the icon it says that windows cannot open the file and wants to know what program created it, and therefore Windows Media Player cannot open open it.
I know it's ok as l can view it using Media Player Classic.
I normally use convertxtodvd, but when l try and add the file, it's in an unrecognisable format.
What programs are out there that convert(write).mp4 files to dvd?
Thanks

Both programs given above will do the job, so will NCH Prism Video converter, doesn't make DVD VIDEO_TS but will do just about all others ( AVI, MPEG 2..etc)
http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html

Have you first tried checking the codec used with this tool:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_...s/mediainfo.cfm

and changing it with this one:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AVI_FourCC_Code_Changer

?
might let you change the code to watch movie in WMP. But you will have to use one of the converters/encoders listed above to change the mp4 to a usable burn option.

Just remembered, you should be able to play mp4 files with vlc. Don't know why I didn't think of it before. Must be more tired than I thought.
