Ok i am new to all this wii backup thing, so please be gentle with me.

i used dvd dumper to dump My own game (lego batman) to a sd card
i had to make several trips to and from the wii to the pc to put them in a folder on the desktop, after about 5 hours i had all the files in the folder the size was 4.37gb so then i used the program
HJSplit to join them up, i then used the program wii backup patcher.
when that finished the iso in the folder gave the iso name and that it was converted.
so on to the next stage, i opened up IMGburn put in my blank media and selected 4x speed, when it got to 37% it gave me a write error
saying unrecognized file format? i then tried the test mode and it completed. i am using a pioneer dvdrw drive which can use dvd-r and +r and also dual sided discs. i can't get hold of any verbitim discs so i have been using HP dvd-r 16x.
any help would be welcomed.

The problem is your media. The HP discs are probably using CMC dye which is the same company Memorex outsources to. Hold out for Verbatims or maybe some Sony -R's
