I am a rookie at backing up movies and I am probably in over my head but here goes: I am trying(again) to back up a movie w/Imgburn.
I used DVDfab5/Fixvids1.603/DVD Shrink3.2/imgburn.
Before it goes through shrink, the movie can be split in the video_ts and Audio_ts.After using shrink, the movie is shown with the Easy media creator icon that cannot be split into the 2 parts. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
Thanks.

I think I'm following you. So here goes.
Ok you just have a file association - you have easy media creator associated with the different dvd/iso file types. Not a biggie.

For the 2 parts well the audio_ts folder isn't needed for movies- it's usually empty anyhow. Some older dvd players needed this folder to play it.

All you need to do is burn the video_ts folder or the iso that dvd shrink created. If it's an iso use 'burn image file to disc' and add the iso. If it's the video_ts folder use 'burn files/folder to disc' and add the video_ts folder.

To make things easy download and use this 'tweak' to autoburn w/ ImgBurn and Shrink - link

Thanks for the help. I now see that the File I was looking at was just an icon. The file size is still 6.1 gb after shrink 3.2015. When attepting Imgburn,I got a messg that the file was too big. I attempted the burn anyway and got errors. Maybe I'm not using shrink correctly?

Hi,

a couple of things,

1) you are correct in that the file size is too big to burn to a dvd-5
2) try removing any unnecessary audio tracts to get file size smaller
3) try doing movie only
4) use vob blanker to blank out unwanted elements of the dvd
5) possibly some encryption left on file, so are you using the latest dvdfab?
5) use vob blanker to remove non video files (it may be hidden encryption) and try shrink again

hope this helps,

Jo

Well Shrinks not that complicated so you probably are. You probably haven't changed the default settings but just check and make sure you still have it set to dvd-5. Go to edit>preferences>preferences tab. Under target dvd size - dvd -5 should be selected or a custom amount 4464 or less.

See bryson's suggestions.

Take the file you ripped with DVDFab or the one Shrink saved to you hard drive and reopen it in Shrink. Now uncheck the audios.
By default Shrink will always have all selected. Uncheck all but AC3 5.1 ch.

To blank out the unwanted with vobblanker well that may take a bit of practice - here's a basic guide - link.

That could be due the media you are using and/or your burner needing a firmware update.
Memorex uses different manufacturers and not all of them are good.

Reduce the burn speed to 8x (if you haven't already) and update the firmware on your burner is one is available.
You can also post a log from ImgBurn that will give us the make, model and firmware version of your drive along with who manufactored those Memorex.
I can't remember if ImgBurn auto saves the logs but you can do a test burn to generate one.
Open ImgBurn. Press the 'L' key. Pretend like you are going to burn the video_ts folder or iso. Under destination check 'test mode'.
Even if it's a success go ahead and copy & paste the log here.
