Hi,
saw 4 problems
1) cpu usage 40 %, don't multitask while burning
2) disc, ritek F-1 , poor media, try Taiyo Yudens or Sony or Verbatim
3) burn speed 16x too fast, slow down, and try 8x or 12x
4) update firmware of burner
hope this helps
Jo

bryston- I think you mean memory/ram usage :)
40% is fine for burning - less than 1/2 is in use.
I'd 2nd using different discs.
Here's the latest firmware - KLOP.
You also have a Roxio driver installed which can sometimes cause problems. If you still have a problem uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool

Firmware update is very easy - only takes a few minutes. Leave the power on (like don't update firmware during a thunderstorm when you have a chance of losing power), remove any discs from the drive and close any programs running. Then just run the exe. You might need to pick the drive from a drop down. Once it's done updating reboot and the drive will be flashed with the latest firmware.
For the brand of discs well if you're using a 'name' brand say for example Memorex - they have several manufactures so you can get a different one with each you buy hence different results.
Update the firmware - reduce the burn speed and give it go.

No worries - click on the link 'KLOP' in my post above - it's a direct download.
To find it on LiteOn's site you would go to this link, pick optical storage next to category then pick the drive next to model #.
