Hi. I'm new to building PCs and want to know if this is a good build. For the moment, I'm just trying to build a system for less than $300 that can do some basic stuff and be able to play WoW (don't care about max settings seeing as how I only have a $300 budget). The computer I'm using right now is a five year old Dell P4 2.4GHz, 1GB Ram, 40GB IDE HDD with a Geforce FX5500. The onboard GPU compares to a HD2400, so that will be a bit of an upgrade for now. And as for the HDD, I was just going to use one from another computer that came with 2 320GB SATA HDDs in it.

That system you linked me to cane down to $373.71 (tax + shipping included). I'm on a really tight budget of about $300. What if I just switched out the case for the cooler Master and kept the PSU from the original build? Are the AM2 processors less effective than the 775 CPU you linked me to? As for the DVD drive, I was going to salvage an old IDE HP Lightscribe DVD drive.

The PSU is by far the worst part of the build. It is critical you use a better unit.
The E5200 I linked you to is far more powerful than the X2 5400+ you selected, it is an equal to the X2 7750 Black Edition.

As long as you don't overclock, you can do fine with the stock cooler, and put the proper Corsair RAM back.
For less than $50 all I can really suggest is an HD4550.

Since the 4550 isn't exactly what I want, I decided to amp up from $50 to $60 and chose this -

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187034

And after adding that and the Corsair memory, the total came to $423.80. If Newegg wasn't located in Cali, I could save $56. It looks like I'm gonna have to save up a bit more to get this build. thanks for your help.
