Has anyone used this program to clean their registry? Is it good?
Currently scanning, and has been doing it for a long time. 35180 errors found so far! That's probably a lot?
I read on some forum, that there's no point in using any registry cleaners, since it doesn't really give any better perfomance, and that you should only use them if there's some serious problem in your registry.
I don't know how true that is, but I will post back here when I'm done with the scan. 43560 errors found so far.
Asking after you have started running it is a little late.
I do not have direct experience with "RegistryBooster"
IMHO, many of these software programs are crap and prey on the ignorant who don't know enough to do preventive maintenance.
In my search I do not see anything that remotely resembles an unbiased, objective review.
However, I take the same stance as I do with my 82 year old parents when they ask me about medicine that you buy out of an ad in parade magazine, which is:
"As long as it doesn't do any harm and all you are out is money, I have no objection."
BTW, how do YOU know that the errors that they find are really errors?
Yes I was just updating my message about that. I haven't found any real proof anywhere that programs like this one really do anything to improve PC performance.
a decent cleanout of junk in the hive does seem to help a little when machines get a lot of crap installed and removed all the time..
Most of the so called "system boosters" actually install spyware or adware, and can do more harm than good in the long run...
When that rubbish finishes why not print out a list of it's findings of "errors".. then close it with no further action and install and run http://www.ccleaner.com/ then compare the results...
I didn't let it finish, I got impatient so I stopped the scan, thinking I could fix the errors it found.. but I couldn't. What a stupid program, you apparently have to do the whole scan.
It also crashed on me anyway... so I sure won't be using it anymore!
Luckily I didn't buy it anyway. Whoops, never mind!! I didn't say that!
I've been using CCleaner for a long time. It's free, doesn't take hours to scan, and has not crashed a single time.
