Sometimes I like to burn AVI files directly to media without authoring to DVD (by using DVD Flick, for example). If I have two 30 minute episodes of a TV show (21 minutes each without commercials) I can use Nero's Video CD selection and burn the two AVI files directly to a CD. If I have two 1 hour television shows (~44 minutes each without commercials) they won't fit on a CD, so I purchased DVD-RW discs hoping there was software that will allow me to quickly burn two 44 minute AVI files for viewing on a stand-alone DVD player. I bought -RW discs because I do not want to archive these shows after watching but instead use the same disc over and over. Nero does not have a selection for Video-DVD. Are there any software programs that allow AVI files to be burned to DVD for direct viewing on a DVD player?
You can also use Imgburn.
Insert the disk.
Run Imgburn, select 'Write files/folders to disk'.
Drag the avi files onto the window.
Click the 'Device' tab and set the burning speed.
I use DVD-RW and CD-RW all the time for these situations.

Thank you for the reply. I did not realize that a data disk will play on a DVD player. When Nero burns the file structure for an AVI file using the Video-CD software to play on a DVD player, there is more to the CD disc than the AVI file itself. Since it is a DVD-RW, no biggie trying your advice and seeing if the AVI files play back-to-back in a stand-alone DVD player.
As long as the DVD player is DivX certified there shouldn't be a problem.
It was the prospect of converting TV captures to DVD format - and the time required - that prompted me to get a player that supported XviD/DivX
I have a Phillips DVD player that is DivX certified. I downloaded 4+ GB of 26 episodes of Season 1 of a popular TV show, each an AVI file. I used Nero to burn all files as a data disc to a DVD-RW. The DVD loads and the menu structure is a Folder with all 26 episodes. When the first file plays, the audio is flawless but the video keeps freezing. I used NEXT to load the second file (episode) and the audio is flawless but again the video keeps freezing. This behavior points to a hardware or software issue?? Man, I don't want to convert 26 files to VOB-structure so I can watch the shows on my TV!
If it's ok, burn the same files on a DVD-R and test on the standalone.
If it's ok, use Imgburn to burn the DVD-RW again with the same files.
I will try Imgburn since the Philips manual clearly states that DVD-RW discs are supported. Playback on my PC is flawless. Playback using a DVD-R disc causes the same, intermittent video freeze.
