ive been having this weird problem with games that have online that ive been trying to play.
obvisiously games dont work online off the hdd, so i decided that i would burn some of my favorite online games and get to playing. however, i have a weird problem. none of them boot. period. i tried thug1 on a tdk dvd-r, resident evil outbreak file 1 on tdk dvd-r and resident evil outbreak file 2 on a sony dvd-r. i tried booting every one with cogswap v1.0 using both xenosaga 1 and the set up the gay online disc for the TOC (can you even get a bigger toc besides xenosaga? maybe GOW2?) and they wont work. i tried both of those discs with just the hdd gone, the hdd and the network adapter gone, and just the network adapter. none of them worked. i tried booting swap magic v3.6 off my hdd and using both discs for the toc and it didnt work. i have found that when i used online for the toc that re 1 and 2 discplay now loading at the bottom and either
a. spin so fast it sound slike my ps2 is going to explode or
b. stop spinning.
no matter what i do tony hawk doesnt do crap. all three of those games run fine off my hdd in mode 3. and xenosaga, silent hill and the network adapter have played perfecftly from the disc drive, so i highy doubt that my lens is dead. also, ive heard that tdk are reliable on this forum (although i dont think i ever heard of them before here), same with sony's.
btw i have mem card exploit, hdd and i removed my ps2 top on this ps2 (in case you didnt notice).
i believe it is a v7.
yes they are patched.
i know this looks horrible, i just kinda let the words flow through my hands so its probably disorganized and spelt bad.
I'm not sure about your booting method as I don't know to much about cogswap and the like. If you have a fat ps2 you could try the slidecard method and see if that works for you. However I do know that you need to patch the DNAS of the disk in order not to be kicked off sony's servers for playing. Google it, or pm me and I'll link you to a tutorial. And you can only play backed up games that are in your region if you try to play a pal game on an ntscps2 or vice versa you'll get banned for sure.

Hope I helped a bit
as i said in the post, i have removed the lid of my ps2 for the swap method, the games are patched, and they dont boot, so the patching doesnt really matter.
i guess i never mentioned this, but the games are all ntsc and my system is ntsc.
