Ryza,
Been there, done that - good picture :-)
I ripped that DVD with DVD Shrink and burned it to a DVD. No reason why Decrypter won't do it -
Do you want to backup to a CD or DVD ?
Welcome to the Neighborhood :D)

Hey Pete
I have all the programs and i have a basic knowledge on how to use them. I currently dont have a dvd burner and i am in the process of buying one. I am trying to copy the dvd to my hdd. I have done this many times before with other dvds that are not protected with macrovision.
What happens when i use DVD Decrypter and shrink and smart ripper is they get half way through copying it to mi hdd but it stops at 50% and wont do any more.
All the programs do this.
Plz help me

Ryza,
Copyright protection doesn't haven't anything to do with it - virtually all commercial DVD's have copyright protection on them :-)
I'm thinking it's resources, 90 % of the time it's true - Sooooo, go to msconfig, select disable all, click apply, click close, OK for restart -
As soon as your PC comes up. Turn on DVD Shrink, click ?open disc?, let Shrink analyze it and then click "backup" - select "target" / "destination" for Hard Drive and have it backup to your desktop.
Once all is done, you will be able to play with your PowerDVD :D) and whenever you get it, burn it to your DVD with your burner :P

Ryza,
I only said to save it to desktop because it's then easy to find it and to delete it when you're done with it :-)
Go to "start" button, then to "Run" - type in the blank space "msconfig" (lower case) When it opens, go to "start" tab choose "disable all", then "apply", then "close" then yes to restart -
As soon as your PC comes back on, go directly to DVD Shrink, click ?open disc?, let Shrink analyze it and then click "backup" - select "target" / "destination" for Hard Drive and have it backup to your desktop / where ever.
Once all is done, you will be able to play with your PowerDVD :D) and whenever you get it, burn it to your DVD with your burner :P

Hey Pete
I understand everything now but the cd will still not analyse which is starting to ...... me off. :(
It still does the same thing but when i tried with the msconfig start disabled all, it came up with an error 62% of the way through and thats never happened before.
The error read ----> something to do with the d drive, and..... something to do with 'incorrect function'.
whatever that all means but u might know :)

Hey Pete
Im thinking that all this might have something to so with my aspi settings???
an error that i got that i think relates to this is
I/O Error

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpertation: Check Condition
CDB: 28 00 00 1E FC 88 00 00 01 00

im not sure what it means but again i think that it relates to my aspi settings and i have no idea what they are.

Ryan,
Here is an ASPI Link, install it and let's see how it works :-)
http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10161912.html
When you try ripping with Decrypter, are you ripping in the file mode ?
When you begin ripping a DVD, don't use the computer for anything while it's working.
And Lastly, I'd like you to try another way to do things :) -
Please download these programs - DVD Shrink and it's guide - I'd like you to try it :-)
Shrink download - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm Shrink Guide -
http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/dvd_shrink_3.htm
Using DVD Shrink ver. 3.1.7 Beta 5
Before I start, I create a folder on my Desktop (i.e. All DVD Work) in that, I create a sub-folder with my movie?s name on it (i.e. All DVD Work/Pirates of the Caribbean) that?s where I put my work, where I can always find it later.
When using DVD Shrink, after inserting your DVD, open Shrink, click ?Open Disk?. Then, ?Select DVD Drive? and click ?OK?. After Shrink has opened your disc, anywhere from 30 seconds to 1-½ minutes you?ll then have a Green bar at the top of the page, which will tell your DVD?s size. It has been adjusted automatically by DVD Shrink to fit on a single DVD - nothing for you to do at all, Kool Huh ? :D)
If you wish to increase the quality of your backup you may simply check off those files you don?t want, I.E. Outer Mongolian or Eastern Himalayan Yak language, Director?s commentary or extra audio files ? I keep ACS 2ch or ACS 5.1, that will give you stereo, most of the rest you can trash. When I say increase quality, many times it?s more theoretical, nothing you can really see with the naked eye for the most part.
With that being done, let?s make sure that the box which says ?Full Disk? is depressed (No need to cheer it up, it likes being depressed :-). When you are ready to go, - -> click ?Backup?. When the Backup box opens, under ?Target Device? make sure the folder you made at the beginning with the movie?s name is there (that way you can always go back and burn a copy in the future). Now click ?OK?.
If we make it there, we are in fantastic shape :)
Pete
