I've used nero speed drive and info tool but neither give me any info, unless i'm looking in the wrong place, it just says dvd-r and the available room on it.

I looked on the inside ring of the disc (the disc's dye is a pretty dark purple) and it says quote "dvd-r 4X 4.7Gb 3S012" and quote.

Is this 3S012 the disc code? Hang on, there is another code printed on the clear plastic inner ring bit that says IFPI GZ03 which looks like it's been lightly etched onto each disc (hard to read).

Anyway i'll chuck those codes into google and see what i get, thanks in advance.

Hmmm, nothing yet, but maybe these discs aren't as cheap as i thought they were, i've been getting them from the www.discshop.com.au 50 for $60 or 25 for $30, but just checked out www.auspcmarket.com.au and they want $44 for the spindle of 25, and they're exactly the same disc, dvd-r, not plus r like i first thought!!

Auspc market are rip offs anyway, what is the point of mail order when it costs as much if not more than retail stores?

www.gamedude.com.au is a good place for cheap hardware in oz, situated in Brisbane.

Whoah, 25 + r is 71.50 for Laser, maybe i've just been getting the dash r's for a good price.

I think i need a web site where you can check this sort of thing, can't find anything on google. those codes aren't helping ;).

Oh, yeah, asupcmarket is just expensive, everywhere else in oz charges $30 for 25, even less at some places.

IF anyone can give me some help in this area i'd greatly appreciate it, cheers.

Go here and d/l the tool. It will tell you a lot of info about your disks. The site also has a listing of media and comments from users.

Ok, seems my Laser discs are AN35's, the same as one of the mitsumi's.

Cheers again.

Well, i checked the web and others who have the AN35 dye have reported no errors, one guy has done over 1000 dvds using the mitusmi discs id:
00 6C 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 87 0E 15 .l...@....R.....
98 9A 90 00 03 41 4E 33 35 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 .....AN35.......
00 00 00 00 05 CC C0 00 00 00 01 00 06 0B 10 11 ................

hmmm, that paste didn't work to well, how do i change text size?

Anyway, exactly same id, i just wanted to make sure the dye on these discs would stuff up after 6 months, but these guys are have been using them for a good while.

Also the latest princos 4x datawrite red disc use an35 aswell, and these have been getting nothing but good reports.

The relatively cheap discs must use this AN35 dye.
