a game saved to hard drive will only play off the hard drive on the console that it was saved on, by design. I imagine some tinkering may change that. So basically if you save a game to a hard drive and cary the hard drive around expecting to play the game from the hard on a mates console, it won't work without some hacking. Not sure if its been done yet.

i dont think he meant take the hdd to a different console
he is asking if he can install the game to his hdd with a friends copy that is not scratched and then use his disc to just put it in and play from the hdd using his box. and the answer is yes u can, someone posted awhile back and said they had damaged their copy of gears 2 and the NXE update saved him from buying a new copy cause he installed to his hdd using a friends copy and then played with his scratched disc and it worked. so yes do it
If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

hey paul yout probably gonna find this hard to belive, but my left 4 dead was scratched the other day so i went to the bathroom put toothpaste on the disk (cream toothpaste not gel) and i rubbed in circular motion around the disk a few times pushing down on my fingers with pressure. then i rinsed the disk off dried it with my t shirt and it plays perfect again. try it and tell me how it goes
