Hey guys, up until now I was backing up dvd's with a few coasters here and there. But now I cant back up any dvds, even ones i have successfully done before. I use DVDfab and Imgburn. I have Sony DVD+R and TDK DVD+R media.

I also JUST used a lens cleaner disc too.

try using better media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim TDK is crap and burn at 6x to 8x max and check for a firmware update for you're drive. if you still have problems repalce the burner

Well ya, I read about TDK being crap so I bought some Sony's and they fail also (thats what the log is).

Drivers also up to date.

The drive detects blank media and media that isnt "empty". Ive had it for 5 yrs, so maybe its dying...

Not to knock Lite-on drives but my last two have developed difficulty in ejecting disks, this problem has started after 18 months or so. I have replaced the older one with an LG drive and it seems to be as good as the Lite-Ons in terms of burning quality, we will see about the longevity. By the way, the kids are still using my original DVD burner, a Sony DRU-510A drive from like 2003 or 2004.

I too developed problems with a Lite-on DH-20A4P after only a few hundred burns. It was always insanely noisy, but the burn quality went down the tubes. It was rumored to be a BenQ, hence I tried it. There are many drives that provide superior burning (especially for audio) and better build quality.
