I found a method for merging two Vdubmod demuxed ac3 files. But I want to know how to integrate it back into the original avi file.

The following simulation illustrates my problem.

I have a two part avi file which I want to merge. I demuxed the ac3 sound from part 2 in vdubmod. Then I reopened the part 2 file, replaced/remuxed it with the newly extracted ac3 file. The resulting file played as perfectly well as the first in wmplayer or zoomplayer. Yet when I tried to append the two files vdubmod gave me an error to the effect that the audio formats were different. The video format was xvid. And I want to stress that the two files were easily mergeable before the demux/remux turnaround.

I looked at the audio file info in the two part 2 files under vdubmod and they are identical except in one area: the number of layout chunks. The demux/remux ac3 had around 90000 whereas the original only 60000+. Also the min/avg frame size did not match either. All else was the same. So, is this a parsing problem and is there another to extract ac3 from avi and put it right back in without the extra new hair. Thanks a million, anyone.

And a little poll, can anyone guess how i spliced the two ac3 files? As a video neophyte it surprised even me.
