hello, I have read many topic's about psp's not reading UMD's and none of them fixed my problem
the laser work's fine the disk spins but the laser housing isn't moving
I tried moving it around/to the right place but it wont work maybe im doing it wrong?
I tried cleaning the laser lens with 70% alcohol ddnt fix it
are there 2 motor's? how can the disk spin and the laser not move? the laser does zoom in and out not sure what that means
soz if this is obv but i just got my psp(1001)from a friend and wanted to use it. It was working 2 days ago one of my concerns is that he used a disk that had been repaired with adhesives in it and i noticed a warning about that in a game's instruction Manuel
thank's for reading

yea it is possible that something got onto the laser track to get it stuck or simply break and the only way to fix it would be getting replacement parts like ebay, this is one of the biggest reason i installed custom firmware because the umds are flimsy and the umd tray is easier to break on slims and i only use umds when watching umd iso videos so i really never use it.

first off thank's for posting I really appreciate it,
like I said im a noob when it comes to psp's so bear with me
what is cfw? custom firmware?
and how can I use games without umd reader?
I found a place to get the laser part for like 17 buck's how is that?
were could I get it installed?
and lastly most people say sony will charge me a ton, on top of that I don't have the proof of purchase can I still send it in?

sorta, i would pay that for the whole umd mount and tray but not for just the laser which might not be the only problem since it could be the track/motor, i wouldn't be surprised if you could find one a little cheaper since you have a psp phat
