im currently running the softmod on 3.4U with the gamma loader 002 fix. Last night my kids deleted out the hombrew channel because they thought it wasnt needed so now my problem is that the wii will not read any Wii disk what so ever. i put in a store bought game or a backedup game and it just says read disk error. i cant even load the twilight game to get the homebrew back. and no the wii is not bricked!!

so i just looking for some help on what to do
is the wii drive burnt out?
is the homebrew needed that much it could ruin mu wii?
would a reformat fix it? i really dont want to lose my saved game files

thanks in advance for any suggestions or tips to hopefully get it back working.

I would wait on the system format and use it as a last resort only. Formatting the memory rarely if ever fixes any problems, much less one like yours.

the reformat will be the last resort for now.

actually no the wii drive and memory are two separate things connected by a two wires inside the wii. you can replace your drive and still have everything on the wii system memory.

AS for your wii not reading any disk you need to open up your wii and readjust the light laser reader in the set position. Clean the lens with lens cleaner or rubbing alcohol and it should re read your games. I have done this before for a person with the same issue. So yes it works. If you have never opened up your wii there are tutorials to do so which isnt hard.

after your wii is able to read games again redo the homebrew hack using 3.4 zelda hack to get the homebrew channel.

Go into the Maintenance mode by pressing - and + and the A at the Heath warning screen and it will boot into Maintenace mode see if the drive starts working then, also try and put a lens cleaner dvd in there see if that works, I've never tried that but I've herd good things.
