I assume your laptop can read (play) DVDs other than ?Home Burned? DVDs.

If so, how were those DVDs burned? On other PC or stand-alone DVD recorder?
Are those DVD?s are ?Closed?? What are recorded?
Are those DVD?s can be read (played) other than your laptop?

If I assumed wrong, please check with DVD, which is not ?Home Burned?.

Thanks for your reply...

I assume your laptop can read (play) DVDs other than ?Home Burned? DVDs.

I am having problems with data and media and home made movie made DVD's. We have used several different brands of media ie verbatim etc

Yes it can read and play factory DVDs ok

If so, how were those DVDs burned? On other PC or stand-alone DVD recorder?

They were recorded on a Desktop PC (Dell Dimension 2400) using Nero 6 the operating system is windows XP Home service pack 3.

Are those DVD?s are ?Closed?? What are recorded?
Yes the movies are finalized and closed.

Are those DVD?s can be read (played) other than your laptop?

Yes they will play on my Dell Desktop or my Dell Laptop just fine. But not on the Sony.

If I assumed wrong, please check with DVD, which is not ?Home Burned?.

By quick searching, PCG-FX340 seems quite old. Is its drive original DVD/CD-RW drive?

It sounds another compatibility issues. Try using DVD+R media and BookType (DVD-ROM) it. (Check ?BookType? in Glossary.)

I hope this solves your problem.
