Most of my movies fit onto one DVD it seems lately that it is requiring two disks to complete the coping. It has happened with SAW V and with The Family That Preys. Is this just the case for these movies?, has anyone burned them onto one disk?

Thanks,

Try removing all unwanted languages and subtitles for starters. Or rip Main Movie only. And Jo is right on. Dvd Rebuilder is the way to go for higher compression situations.

Most of all movies DVD are in either
DVD-5 (Many old movies without any extras),
DVD-9 (Most of recent movies with lots of extras)
DVD-10 (Those Full screen on one side and Widescreen on the other)

Without any compression (if there are no copy protections),
DVD-5 should fit in a DVD+-R,
DVD-9 should fit in a DL media, and
DVD-10 should fit in two DVD+_R (if you want both formats.)

As my understanding, movies (720*480 mpeg2) are typically 4GB+ for 2hours. So most of movies should fit in a single disk, if it is movie only.

However as part of copy protections, sometimes those ripping programs are fooled and see the DVD disk contains more than actually does. Imagine like the one, which you can choose theatrical version or uncut version in the menu. Uncut version just plays extra parts here and there. However the ripping program sees DVD contains 2 different episodes in the disk. In similar way some times the ripping program sees many episodes in a disk. (My recent experience is ?The Express?.) Though updated version of those ripping program sees it correctly.

I do not own SAW V or The Family That Preys. So I can't be sure , but it should fit in the single disk without much compression with the updated programs. (Unless those movies are extremely long.)

Thanks everyone who answered my thread, I did get the rebuild program.

The final solution to get SAW V onto one disk was to run a deep analysis in Dvd Shrink, that seemed to do the trick.

Again thanks for all your help and suggestion.

I?m glad you find your solution. It?s never come to my mind, because I?ve always used ?Deep Analysis?...
