can i update a flashed 360 to play avi files??

i can't play avi files on the 360 it says i need to go to xbox live to get an update... of course i can't do that coz i think xbox is banned... so is there a way around this?? maybe download onto cd or usb stick

Nope, not possible. You have to get the Fall Dashboard update first (which can be downloaded from xbox.com) and then you have to get another update from Xbox Live. You only think your box is banned? Never tried? The box doesn't get banned automatically just because you flashed the drive.

PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

1 box is banned for sure coz it was my teens and he defo got banned... but the other that is flashed we bought just over a week ago... with the 3 red rings.... the bloke said it had never been on xbox live....(not sure that is true) coz when i try to set it up for xbox live i can't get on ... so i don't know if it is banned or not...

if i download the fall update will it change my flashed firmware??? of course i don't want that lol

Just the drive's firmware is flashed, the Fall dashboard update doesn't change anything there.
