Hi folks - Brand new rookie on this board so play gentle! LOL!
I want to start downloading movies onto my computer and then burn them onto a DVD. Currently, I use Windows XP. I don't have a DVD burner yet, but what I need to know is:
Where do I go to burn movies? I have heard about torrents, etc - no clue what that is. But I just want to be able to download and burn as easy as I do currently with audio music. I use Cabos for my music and sometimes Limewire.
Pls help! I am a rookie at this.
thanks so much!

Wow, I can't believe the info on the thread unbelieable, I was always under the impression that we were not even allowed to talk about anything torrent, well this is great, after clicking on all the links the info is great, the only problem is I don't understand a bit of it, damit and I wish I could, I am not complaining or faulting anyone here that is explaining, I think these mods are going way out of there way to give such advise, but like I said it's way over my head.
I always read on many threads about burning or ripping movies with all these different programs, is why I always stuck with Clone and AnyDVD, absolutly the easiest way to make a copy even than I still don't understand the many features Clone has like copying the files etc first, I just copy from the disc to disc.
Just the other day I copyied for the first time Madagasgar 2, I forget what site I got it from but somehow it got applied to a limewire folder or file, than I tried to use clone using the different type of files Clone uses and trying to use Windows Media Player forget it, I couldn't figure out clone either, unfortunatly I can never figure out these things reading instructions I'm a show me guy if somebody is sitting next to me showes me once and I got it.
Either way it's because I'm so stupid with all this, but I still want to comment all these people that took thier time to do this for all it's members, Thanks to all even though I can't take advantage of it still you guys did a great job.

Mr. Loco, I haven't been able to update peer guardian for the past 2 days. When I tried to update yesterday, it showed that it was blocking "0" IP's. Luckily, i found the guides to go around that on here.

Discussing and providing help for torrent's is allowed, linking to anything pirate isn't but the site is ok like The Pirate Bay above. Wouldn't name them but don't think that matter's unless it's a program, OS, etc. Torrent's only seem complicated at first, the term's moreso, but after a while, you'll wonder what the fuss was.

Mistycat is correct....
from the rules:
Quote: Case: Pirated material, such as serial numbers and direct links to pirated, copyrighted material (including direct links to torrent files and ed2k links). PROHIBITED
Case: Discussion about pirated content and piracy, such as converting (downloaded) video and/or audio files to DVD/AudioCD/whatever format. PERMITTED
@fred
Limewire can be full of demons, I'd stay away from it. Learn to use these torrents if you can, they are more reliable and safer AFAIK.
@rtm
I use uTorrents ipfilter because I'm on Vista. I know there is a workaround to get PG2 working properly with Vista, but I can't ever keep it working properly...no problem updating, it just doesn't run.

LOCOENG, yes I agree, I have it in my system hardly ever use it, have read to many bad reports about it, what I don't understand is this, if I remember correctly, I was on some site about torrernt and never used it before, actually it was from one of the AD forums now that I think about it, so out of interest I clicked on a link and some info came up about torrent and movies I could download, I never downloaded a movie from the internet I don't know how that works, any copy I ever made was if I bought a movie and I made a copy with my clone, so I decited to give it a shot.
Madagasgar cought my eye so I went ahead, about an hour later it was complete, but it landed on a saved limewire folder, how I don't know, beats the hell out of me, than of coarse I tried to view it with clone which was a joke, now after reading this thread I can see why whatever I tried didn't work, it looks like one needs to do all of these different thing to view or download it, I'll wait till I capture one of the kids from the neighborhood I'm sure one of them will know. I already own the movie it's not about seeing it but I need to know how it works, I always hear people mention things about torrent, something I need to learn.

Just look at what size the file is...probably an avi weighing in around 700MB. You can watch it with MPC or VLC and you convert it to DVD with ConvertXtoDVD or DVD Flick. Easy peasy. As for saving in a limewire folder, you have to go into the options of utorrent or whatever your preferred application is and choose a target folder for completed torrents.

@Loco
I'm using XP Media Center 2005 on my desxtop, and clicked to update the list. When it finished downloading, it showed "0" IP's blocked. I was finally able to update it properly this morning.
I saw the guide what to do when peer guardian shows blocking "0" IP's, how to get an updated list.
