Hi, a friend flashed my Benq drive in my xbox 360 (not a lite-on). I think it was a bad flash & want to reflash it, I've read it should be flashed back to original then flashed as the hacked firmware? I have the BACKUPS.rar from the usb flash drive the first time we flashed it. Anyone pointing me the right way on how to do this correctly please? Much appreciated in advance!

What makes you think the flash went wrong?

Can you not play backups or originals?

As far as re-flashing, I don't believe it's necessary to load your original FW.

I would suggest dumping the FW/Key that is currently loaded on the drive and compare that with your original FW/Key.

If it is the same continue on with the iXtreme 1.5 flash.

It's just a hunch, I could be wrong.
As for how it works about half of my backups work pretty well.
The other half either give me "disc can't be read" when trying to boot up or give me things like "dirty disc error" very briefly into playing a tiny bit.
It's iextreme 1.4 right now & I've been thinking since the new dashboard update newer games can't be played or something so I should try out 1.5 I thought maybe?
If I don't need to flash back to original I'll just reflash it from 1.4 to 1.5 if there's nothing wrong with doing it that way soon.

no need in flashing period. if your games work, your flash is fine. if they dont, your flash was bad. your flash is fine. on the other hand, your media/laser are bad. try cleaning your laser, and also what kind of dual layer dvds are you using?

I'm using verbatim dvd+r dls from singapore.
Mind pointing me the right way on how to correctly clean my laser?
I'm completely clueless sorry...
Btw, there's no reason whatsoever for me to upgrade from iextreme 1.4 to 1.5 since the new dashboard update I'm assuming from what you say mikeismad?
