8163b cant burn?

I recently bought a 8163b because everywhere i searched, everyone said you needed one of the LG 816_b series to burn wii games. I sadly found out after i had ordered one for $40 that you only needed it to rip. I figured I needed a dvd drive anyways since i've been removing my dad's out of his computer and putting it back. I just received my drive yesterday and the first thing i did was rip one of my friend's games and went to sleep. Just now i tried to burn No More Heroes, however the drive doesnt show up as a burning in alcohol 120 or imgburn. I've come to the conclusion that i've just wasted $40 because i will most likely only download wii games and this thing cant even burn to save its life. So hence the question: Can this thing burn and am i just having technical difficulties or did i waste $40..

No it can't burn, it can only read. Most places you read should have said the drive is for backing up Wii games, not burning.

I am sure you can sell it pretty easily.

You don't have enough bays in the pc to have a Burner and the LG drive.
