I've just got my media server going a couple of days ago it's connected to the network with a wireless connection, as is my primary desktop. They are both connected to the router using 802.11G. I'm wondering why is it giving me a 2mbps bandwidth limit on it when I transfer files. I figured it would split the 54mbps connections amongst the two PC's. If anyone has any idea of how it get a higher bandwidth limit i would appreciate the info.

Are you referring to the 2 megabyte (MB) 'limit' on the wireless? because that is right near the upper limit on a wireless connection due to outside interference... the 54mbps speed on a router is 54 megabits(Mb)/ second... Which gives you a theoretical speed of 6.75MB/sec... The fastest file transfer speed I've ever seen is right about 3.3 MB/sec... Its mainly due to interfernce from your TVs, cell phones, house phones... You can try changing the Channel on your router see if that helps...
