Why that much?

I bought a refurbished Epson RX595 from Epson.

Added the 2 yr extended warranty (3 yrs. total) for less than $100.00 shipped. (This thing is in heavy use and the price was so low it was cheaper than new.)

I installed a CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) for less than $50.00.

"I print with impunity"

Scans, prints nice photos and CD/DVDs.

Here's what others are using:

JMHO, you didn't state what you are using it for.

Can you stick the DVD in and print the cover?

Have you had good results with that printer? Epson is selling a refurbished one for $85.

Well thanks. I just bought that same printer for $55 and threw in the 2 year warranty plan for $30.

It was refurbished of course.

I have purchased an RX280 and an RX595, both refurbished from Epson.

I sold the T078 (half-filled) carts on eBay and it paid for 1/2 of my CISS.

CISS are not for everyone but I have them installed in both my printers and I'm very happy.

I'm assuming the refurbs come with ink lol but can you tell me where they sell the CISS online?

Also how easy is it to install?

The refurbs come with T078 carts. They are "half full of ink and don't last long.

I got my CISS from the big Online auction site (I don't mention names).

Do a search on CISS Epson <your model number> and you'll find a variety. There are also refillable carts for the Epsons that can be reset if a CISS intimidates you.

I had minor problems with one of my CISS but I think it was an isolated issue. Some of the sellers have videos detailing the Install.

Thanks. Definitely gonna get the CISS.

One last question. Do you know if it comes with the tray to print DVD covers?

Yes, it's standard with any CD/DVD capable printer.

So what does you ink cost & how long does it last before your tanks need refilling? I've been buying carts for my RX680 from 4inkjets & they cost $4.99 each. Lots cheaper than buying Epson brand ink!!

I have a real problem. The CISS cratridges aren't being recognized by the printer.

I turned it on and off and reset it and nothing.

I had a similar problem. I even sent the CISS back to the vendor and they sent another one. The replacement didn't work. I was embarrassed adn red-faced when I found out that I hadn't seated the in cartridges in the print head tray properly.

You have to push them down until you hear a click as it snaps into place. There is only one CISS that will fit into that printer.

Hmmmm that sucks. I made sure that it was pushed down all the way several times.

Is there a chip inside the printer that I could replace maybe?

WOW! Thanks a lot. Yo can't believe how hard I had been pushing down and making sure it was clicking but tried it again but I used a folded paper to cushion the carts. After that they clicked and it looks like the printer recognized it. Thanks.

Great! I'm glad you didn't have to go through the embarassment of sending back a perfectly good CISS (as I did).

Did your CISS print colors correctly?

I just printed for the first time using it and the colors are off. The picture was blue and black and it looks cyan and red. I was afraid this would happen.

john411- If your using an epson you might want to use the head cleaning and nozzle check utility that comes with the printer ! Epson makes a Good printer but are prone to Clogging every so often especially if you use them sporadically !!!! The utility may solve your problem ? It may not but I would try that first !!! Also when you start running out of ink your pictures colors may come out predominantly one color or the other FYI !!!

I dunno what's going on I've printed a bunch of test patterns. Sometimes they all show and most of the times there is missing ink. I've already done nozzle checks around 5 times and no improvement.

Well after cleaning the nozzles over 20 times and printing tons of test patterns, things seem to be ok for now.

I hope this is not something that will happen suddenly.

These DVDs are too expensive to be tossing them away because of printing errors.

1. Check all of the tubes and make sure that there are no air bubbles in the tubes.

I had to slightly elevate the CISS above the printhead and run several cleaning/printing cycles in order to get the ink flowing smoothly.

On one of my CISS I had a clogged line and I don't want to tell you what a mess I made clearing it. OOOhhh. Yellow ink all over my hands. Good thing I'm Chinese, it didn't show too badly. <G>

There should be "all ink" between the reservoirs and the carts.

Sometimes it can take a little tweaking to get the thing running correctly.

Don't be afraid to get your CISS vendor involved. I will provide what help I can from my experiences, but your vendor may need to get involved as well.

Other lessons that I have learned.

1. Turn the printer off when you are not going to use it for more than a day.

2. Print a nozzle check before printing your first disc in a batch and do any print head cleaning before the first print.

I have printed over 1000 discs on 3 different printers and have not had to throw any away because of misprints other than the ones I created myself by mixing up the order of the discs.

Has anybody tried this CISS system for the RX680?

http://www.supertobuy.com/continuous-ink...b09cad17b985e9c

Here is the bulk ink for it.

http://www.supertobuy.com/bulk-ink-refil...ciss-p-395.html

My question is how to you get at the waste ink pad in an RX680 so you can clean it & how do you reset the waste ink counter?

I don't know if your are looking at these but Samsclub Has epson NX-300 AIO ( ALL IN ONE ) printer /fax /scanner /copier For$47.34 +tax- takes the same cartridges as the Stylus Cx-5000/6000 ect. which ironically will set you back more than the cost of the whole printer if you buy the replacements@ Samsclub in genuine epson cartridges !!! Supwrmediastore .com & Meritline.com sell generics and right now SMS has the set of 4 Black, Cyan,Magenta, yellow for $19.99 with free shipping!!! I just uncrated mine NX-300 and hooked it up for a shakedown cruise ! still working the learning curve but seems to print well enough & fairly quiet !Compared to my old worn out Epson Stylus Cx-7800 which it replaced . That Beast used to play songs of the HumpBack whales everytme I printed something !!!! I'm gonna miss the old girl !!!! The feed system wore out after hard use of a few years and would'nt feed Photo paaper ( For DVD Covers ) unless I nearly Force fed it to her !!!! - and that was the end of that !!! I was still using the 7800 but I ran out of red ink and I could'nt print anymore so I figured why buy mor ink for a broken printer ? I also bought a Dell Laser prinetr that I'm gonna hook up and try Laser Photo pare & Regular laser paper !!! I know I may not get the same Photo quality as inkjet but it will be much cheaper in the long run & having two printers will take some load off the New epson !!! & Hey @ $47.34 if it last a yaer or two I can buy another one ! I think it will last pretty good I've always gotten good service from my Epsons so far !!! anyway hope this info helps you or someone else out if even in a small way !!!! Cheers
