I may have posted this with the wrong subject. Trying again.
First, I must say there are a lot of helpful folks on this forum. So:
I just bought a HP computer package with an hp300n 4xdvd+r drive last month. Bundled with the Media Center software. Yesterday, March 5, I downloaded from links from here for Nero 6303 (in demo)and Shrink 3.1. I would think they both would be current due to yesterdays download. The Nero site did state next week would have a newer ver.
Everything works like most successful posts on this forum, but so far I've made 6 costers because at the end of the burning at 99% it freezes and I have to end the task and it spits out a disc I can see has been mostly burnt, but won't play on any devise.
Any Ideas?

dont no fo certain but maybe because its a demo?try downloading TMPGEnc dvd author thats not a demo it free
that might help but Nero is very good when u get the full version!
Sounds like a media issue. Sometimes cheap media won't burn out to the edge.
Try reducing the overall size of the burned disc by opening Shrink and going into Edit> Preferences.
Select "custom" instead of "DVD-5", then reduce the size from 4464MB to 4364MB and see if that works.
You may want to try using some R/W media until you get the problems sorted out.
I haven't looked to see if a Nero log file is available when using Nero and Shrink together, but post any error messages you get.
What brand of media are you using?
Cheers,
Frank
BTW posting over in the Newbies forum would be more appropriate but its no big deal :D
Just wondering if anyone knew how to get around it when the message says there is not enough space on the disk, and to please enter a disk with more space.
How do you burn this disk?
So what program are you using that gives you this message? I can't automatically assume it's Nero. More info is very helpful in sorting out problems.
You need to be specific about the programs and what your computer and hardware specifications, brands are. What media you are using.
It is also OK to start a new thread rather than tack your question into an existing thread. More people will see it that way and you will get a lot more help. Try the newbies forum.
Rippman, I think that giving out demos that produce scrap dvds would not be a very good business model. I am not buying it as it seems that a new ver. is due shortly.
Fast Frank, I'll try your suggestion. The media I've been using has been from Digital Matrix 4xdvd+r I got thru Mariline.com. Do you have an opinion on this brand? So I picked up some Memorex dvd+rw to try. However I'm going to wait for the new ver. of Nero to risk them.
bobyj,
you can ReWrite on your Memorex RWs. The burn speed is slowed to 1X on rewrites but they are great to use when experimenting.
I have not used Digital Matrix media so I can only say that many problems are caused by media when copying DVDs.
By using well known brands like Verbatim and Ritek many problems can be eliminated. I use Memorex, Maxell, Phillips and when my order arrives I'll be using Ritek G-04. I think the Ritek get the most positive comments here at AD.
I am pretty sure you have a media problem. Using Nero 6.3.0.3 to burn your Memorex should produce good results.
You can buy Nero when you like! Nero updates are free. I started with 6.0.0.0. and have updated it on several occasions.
Nero can make a burn log after each burn, this can provide clues to problems that may have occured. If you like, you can post them. Once you get things going you may want to try this method:
Heres another way to burn DVDs, for free.
First you must have these two programs:
DVD Shrink 3.1.7b5
DVD Decrypter
The first thing to do is to use 3.0.7b5 to create an ISO image (3.1.7b5 is the only version that can do this).
Just make sure of a couple of settings:
Under Edit> Preferences deselect burn with Nero.
When you select Backup, Target Device, select ISO Disc Image.
Once you have done this, select OK and Shrink will create an ISO image of your movie on your hard drive.
To burn with Decrypter, just open the program, under Mode, select ISO> ISO write.
Browse for your image, put a blank disc in and click on the decrypter icons (a burner with an arrow pointing at a disc). Decrypter will burn the ISO.
I'd get things going with Nero first before trying this method. However... it is free and you have RW discs so maybe you should try it....
