I have got the dreaded RROD and plan to try and fix it with the X-Clamp (already tried the team xecuter fix, worked for a couple of hours then RROD). There are loads of different sellers on ebay all claiming that their kit is the best. What do I need to look for to be sure its a quality kit?

This is probably the best tutorial for the rrod. Though you can get parts from the home depot.

Qty - 4 Machine Screw Pan - Phillips 5 x 10mm (DR# - 313) UPC - 030699 801282
Qty - 8 Flat Washer Nylon #10 (DR# - 610) UPC - 030699 869381
Qty - 16 Flat Washer Steel / ZINC Plated 5mm (DR# - 606) UPC - 030699 363087

Note: this is only enough to replace one xclamp, if you want to do both get double the parts.

All home depots are the same, the drawer number should be correct. This makes finding these parts extremely easy.

Just get the longer screw that's the same pitch and diameter (it should be right next the listed part). I'll update this when i get home with the right part number for the longer screw.

If this is a xenon xbox (launch non-hdmi console) then make sure you push down the two raised areas on the metal tray where the long screws go thru the middle of the box. It's a fact that these raised areas are a bit higher than intended and cause flexing of the board for potential rrod.

I just got a friends X360 given to me due to RROD.

I'm just about to overheat/cool/tighten but came across this thread and noticed you were suggesting to push down the 2 raised areas.

Do you have a photo of that?

I'm not quite sure how far I need to push those down.

I'll be searching around in the mean time.

Thank You!
