You can Use Prety much any Capture device to record Digital Cable as Long as you have the Cable Box to tune in the Channels, you can record useing a TV card or your ALL In Wonder Card But these Cards can not use the Tuner on the Card to tune in the Digital Cable Channels... There are TV Cards that Have Digital Tuners on them for Captureing Digital cable But you still need to have a Digital cable Subscription ,so it would be Cheaper to spend the $40 for the extra digital cable Tuner Box and output that to the Composite/RCA or S-Video Input on your Capture Device(like your ALL In Wonder) and Capture that way because the TV Cards with Digital cable Tuners that I have seen were well over $100 and you are Just paying for the Digital Cable Tuner when you can Buy a Digital cable tuner Box for Much less....Cheers

nice, will do, will do. so the cable boxes have a/v s-video out? I though they used the regular coax port to connect? hmm ponder???

edit- never mind, I figured it out, I would have to connect the cable box to a vcr, and then the vcr out to a/v or s-video

Well when you Subscribe to Digital Cable they give you a Digital Cable Tuner Box so you can recieve digital Cable, and you should be able to buy an extra one at any Electronics store for about $40-$50...
If you want a TV Tuner Card with a Digital Cable Tuner built in then this is the only one I could find by just haveing a Quick Look :
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=697206&Sku=TC3G-2004&CatId=315
It is only $100 which seem like an OK Price but I have no idea how good the quality is...Cheers

yeah, I saw that card, the problem I had with it was that it only had a 125 channel tuner on it, and the cable where I live has like 500+ channels. So I'm just going to ghetto rig it like above, until hopefully some better solution comes out!!!

I have read about the Hauppauge TV PCI card (WinTV-D), which claims to be able to pick up DIGITAL TV signals... IT DOESN'T!
This is because it only picks up analog signals (standard 125-channel tuner), and HDTV signals by local stations! The thing is, the HDTV signals are then converted back to analog standard, so if your local stations are broadcast on standard cable, this feature is USELESS!
Stick with the all-in-wonder, but purchase a subscription to digital cable if you want to record it (tune your card to channel 3 or 4 and then use the tuner to watch digital channels).
The biggest reason that there are no digital TV tuners sold is that the digital TV standard is encrypted, and the encryption algorythm constantly changes, so only the cable company's tuners know how to decrypt them.
