The problem is.. I've been reading, and some people say 4.01 firmware on the new PSP slim 2000 wont work if it's a certain mother board? Is this true? If so, how can I find out what kind of mother board it has? Please god don't say "Open it up!"
(P.S I JUST bought it today, if that matters.)

well if u have a ta-motherboard then psp is unhackable. a way to find out is by opening.......UMD TRAY. if you see a green label with ta 82 or something then your psp is unhackable. if theres nothing then youre good.

Make a magic memory stick. Insert it in your psp and then insert the pandora battery.Start your psp holding the L trigger. If you see a black screen and the green light lit up and nothing else happening, it means that you have one of the TA-088v3 mobo...

Don't listen to Jcho15 - what he has said is incorrect.
It is the TA-088v3 mobo that is unhackable. If you have a TA-82, then you're good to go.
Best bet is to do what iamafreak has suggested as you've already bought a battery.

I'm not putting you down - just stating fact.
What you said was wrong - you stated TA-82 was unhackable, when quite the opposite is true. And you tell me that I'm causing confusion?
Get over it,

(sigh) REGUARDLESS OF THE NUMBERS IF HE OPENS UMD TRAY AND SEES A GREEN LABLE THEN ITS A MOBO IF HE DOESN'T THEN HES 'GOOD' TO GO. who cares about model numbers, addresses on psp and whatever, if theres a green label somewhere in umd tray then its unhackable

I do not believe that you can see your motherboard number if you got a slim 2000 psp. I think the best way of identifying if you got a TA088v3 is to try to pandoraized it. The TA088v3 blocks it indefinitely and wont cause any cement bricks.

Yes -your best bet is just try to use pandora and mms. If it is a version 3 mobo you won't brick it, you just won't be able to install cfw.
Bottom line= if you don't try it you'll never know if the psp is pandorable (!). Guyod is correct in that the mobo isn't visible without opening the psp.
Go for it, use that pandora's battery!!
