Hey AfterDawn,
I bought my PC about 5 months ago and it has been working great. I was surprised I didn't hate Vista as much as I thought I would. The only issue I am having is that my DVD burner seems to have slowed down tremendously. It used to take just 5 minutes to burn a DVD and now it's on it's way up to 15. I am using some pretty standard disks (Staples brand), regular sized (4.7 GB 16X speed etc). I checked under the Device Manager and uninstalled the DVD burner driver and rebooted - not effect. I looked under the IDE/ATA controllers and found that the driver that pertains to my burner is called "NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller." I was going to uninstall that and reboot but my HDD seems to also be connected to it - wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not to uninstall that. I looked at the DVD burner mode and it is set to DMA.
DVD Burner: HL-DT-ST ram.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD-RAM GH10L SCSI CdRom Device
Computer Info: Running Vista SP1 Home Premium, 32bit, AMD, 3GB RAM.
Also I've been using Nero 9 to burn things. I prefer it over ImgBurn, but if I need to switch software to fix the issue I will.
Thanks!

Turn on your DMA.
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm
I have Vista though (the link you gave me is directions for XP), so when I go to the controller that has to do with my DVD Burner it's the NVIDIA controller like I said in my first post. When I go to that the option to have it on DMA is already selected. The other controllers in the section of device manager have nothing to do with DMA options or my burner (as far as I can tell).

vista (drm central.. doesn't like people burning anything)
nero9 (total garbage)
HL-ST-DT whatever it is crap £0.75 oem junk burner (also rubbish)
cmc mag disks (as we all know.. guess what.. junk)
I'm going to have a coffee while I stop laughing... while I recover you could try the firmware update, but I would buy a real burner first.. I have seen these things burn 3 disks and die.

I will try this when I get home. Cheers man.
So since I can't really get a mac right now, I'm stuck with Vista.
Nero 9 I can replace, so what do you use, or what do you suggest I use?
Any suggestions for a good burner that is relatively cheap? I don't have much expendable cash right now the way the world is.
