How the hell do I save playlist when playing music from storage device ?

Topic title pretty much sums it up. Let me say first, my current HD has massive amount of tracks, over 3500.. Because of that, it takes about 5 minutes atleast to create temporary playlist.

Now the problem is that X360 won't let me save the playlist, it says I can only save playlists when songs are from the X360 HD. So if I can't save the playlist, how can I move tracks from the external HD to X360 HD ? My PC is dead so I can't stream it to the X360..
