IFPI website hacked to protest Pirate Bay trial

article published on 19 February, 2009

The Swedish website for IFPI, the International Federation of the Phonographic industry was hacked yesterday to protest the ongoing Pirate Bay trial in that country. It was replaced by a simple message,.which according to Betanews translates to the following. Stop lying HÅKAN ROSWALL! The ruthless hunt conducted by the IFPI, Anti-Piracy Office, Warner Bros., and all the other companies ... [ read the full article ]

maybe but just how this is supposed to help the PB's defence is beyond me, no doubt they had nothing to do with it - but at the end of the day justice is not very often dispensed on facts or reality but the biased personal opinion of judges or a jury of people who are easily influenced & swayed one way or another.

stupid pranks like this only adds fuel to the prosecutor's argument ( no matter how flawed ) that they are part of a "dangerous , subversive network "

end result is :- whoever did this , obviously in support of TPB - has done them no favour whatsoever.

It shows that they do have power. They are not just a lousy group of fanboys who talk loud but do nothing. "We the People" have power.
Maybe this isn't the best way to demonstrate that power, but demonstrate it they did.

If these "hackers" were legit supporters of TPB, they would have made some point about how providing an indexing service is the same as libraries, search engines, and other valid services. Such a pathetic declaration of war can only be the underhanded work of IFPI itself to paint file sharers as an evil community of shallow teenagers.

I totally agree. Remember when Jack THompson used the arguement about that kid who went in a rampage after playing GTA in a police station. Because of this ones stupid action, it affects all gamers negatively, since THompson wanted to ban GTA. Same here, except it affects the PB rather than gamers. That was a seriously dumb prank that was pulled.

lol this has got to be the funniest trial ever. Even if TPB is taken down, they will reach a martyr status.
