Hello,
I tried to copy this movie with DVDShrink/Nero and it appeared successful but when I dropped the copied DVD into the player, the player rejected it. Also, when I run the copied files off the hard drive, there was no video only audio.
When I was running via DVDShrink, the video preview looked normal.
I also tried DVDFab (a non platinum) copy....I got the same thing. I tried a few blank DVD but they all seemed to fail in the player. It looks like the burn never happened but the files are on the DVD when I browsed it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
d

1.) Isn't it Zack and Miri Make A Porno?
2.) It's a newer title and chances are that there is some encryption on that dvd that a very old and outdated program like DVD Shrink can't handle.

If dvd shrink said success, then it should be ok.You also verified visually that it has been burned. I haven't seen encryption screw up backups unless they are main movie only on columbia releases because of the lady liberty trademark. Usually when shrink can't handle newer encryption, she'll error out during the initial analyzing stage with CRC,Invallid navigation,or a couple other errors. Every now and then,it'll be when it gets to the encoding step and error out.
Put the backup copy into your pc and play it in the dvd-rw drive that burned it. It should play perfectly, video as well as sound.
Also test in some other stand alones and see how they react to them.
Most likely a compatability issue with your player. That player doesn't like something about those backups.Uaually a switch to the opposite format takes care of it.
How fast was it burned?
What's the MID code of your media?
Did you try another brand or batch of blank discs or the opposite format?
Did you backup entire disc or main movie only?
What's the brand name, model#,and current firmware version? Neroinfotool should answer those 3 questions as well as the MID code.
Using sticker labels?

After checking to make sure there are no spots on the DVDs ...
LOL
The later versions of Nero aren't supported by Shrink. Shrink will output and Nero will complete, but players have problems. Set Shrink up to work with another burner (ImgBurn) or save the Shrink output to the hard drive and burn manually with the correct program. If saving Shrink output to the HD, use Nero Express for video files. Considering Nero has Recode, why not try it instead of Shrink?

I've been using the combination of DVDShrink 3.2 and Nero 6.6.03 for a very long time and suddenly it has stopped working. I guess I should upgrade to the latest and greatest, but within my budget.

I've decided to try AnyDVD. I can't seem to figure it out. Where does it store the files for DVD (Non HD)?
Is there a guide somewhere? I put a DVD in and I have no idea what happens?

anydvd has its own ripper ( u right click the fox icon on the tool bar) then a screen appears saying to rip movie (disc) to HDD, u create a file with the name of the disc and select that one and then rip away

When you see the little red fox in the lower/right utility system tray, then she's running. If it's grayed out, she's disabled. That's the only adjustments that I do. I keep it disabled because it is known to conflict with other programs.
Rightclick/enable and Rightclick/disable. Procece with your normal backup process. No extra step involved.
I keep it disabled and use ancient dvd shrink. This way I know what dvd shrink can and can't do.
When shrink yields a Crc/Illegal Navigation error/Cannot Read File :E/,or a couple other error messages during the analyzing step: Then right click anydvd to enable it. Then dvd shrink will rip the disc unless it's a ligitimate crc error{bum disc-damaged}.
Try the opposite format and see if it'll play. That should take care of your issue.
