Hi all I'm new to this backup lark and would love some advice, I have 2 DVD dual layer burners one is a freecom classic its a fantastic burner that has never failed to perform top results, and my other drive is a lite-on dvdrw show 832s firmware VSOM. Now i haven't tried any backups yet as wanted to be fully sure i know what I'm doing my main question is can freecom classic be used to backup x360 games as I've not found any information saying it can or can't. I know about changing book types and layer brakes but on img burn no option for freecom as all of u will know and my second question is my lite on burns dvd's but it makes them skip on parts of the film could this be cos now I've update the firmware to VSOM it automatically changes the book type to DVD-ROM i wanted this drive to be ready 4 when my first set of dual layer disks come but seem to be having problems any help would be most appreciated kind regards Dave

im guessing you have an external freecom classic drive, I've got one, the dual layer burner inside the enclosure is actually a toshiba-samsung burner, and you can burn 360 games with it, shouldn't be a problem, I use to burn backups at 4x using the burner.

thank you lilg_06 it is an external drive its the FREECOM_DVD+/-RW16B9. I hear that the book type can be changed in img burn if you use NEC as the burner settings do u know if this is correct? i changed the book type in nec as it does seem to recognize the drive even thou its a freecom and i did change it to dvd-rom in the setting but it said (changers avalible at 497 this setting is active / dvd-rom)????? so not sure if that ment yer its active its ok to use or something else needs changing im confused! lol its just my first 360 back up so wanted to get everything right thanks for your help kind regards dave

I burn without setting the book type as imgburn automatically burns all my iso's as dvd-rom, should do the same for you, i tried toshiba samsung since that the drive in the enclosure but it didnt work, but you can give nec a shot, either way it should set the book type to dvd-rom no matter what. good luck.

we burn ours as +r .. no problems.. samsung drives.. it depends on the drive.. NEC might not make anything but coasters.

Cheers for the up but i thought that xbox's only read dvd-rom not +r's that's the point in having to change the book type? the book type seems to be set as dvd-rom anyway so fingers crossed they will burn ok with my freecom don't want to many coasters lol
