I set up uTorrent by using the guide here on Afterdawn and it worked great! Now every time I turn it on to use it all the setting have changed. I reset them back to the way I had them to begin with but they keep changing and it has been doing this for the past several days. My port settings change along with the upload rate, number of connects, etc., and I don't use the random port, I have used the same port which has worked fine in the past.
Has anyone else have this happen?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Probably not such a great idea to post the port you use by the way... you might want to hit the edit button and delete it.
I used version 1.6.1 build 489 with no problems at all...now here's the thing, Utorrent was taken over by "other people" and versions after this are thought to be less than great. Conversely I did update to version 1.8.1 build 12639 (without knowing any better) and have never had a problem either with the proggy or my isp. However some folks literally hate this version and perhaps version 1.8.2 build 14458.
My advise would be to source the 1.6.1 version and use it. Maybe your problems will vanish... I use XP pro, and I believe Vista performs..well let's just say it performs differently. :P
Do not get an older version from the Utorrent site......remember it's owned by "those folk".

PS: Gotta love Utorrent, it's a really great little proggy. I wouldn't be without it.. or Peer Guardian 2 either..lol
If you cannot source 1.6.1 then I or someone else here can upload that version for you. It is a free program as you know.
Thank you Onya for all the help! When I did use the older version I never had a problem and then upgrade to the 1.8 version, worked fine for a while now it changes on it's own. I will go back to the 1.6.1. Also thank you for the heads up on the port, I did edit my post. I haven't used Peer Guardian but will look into getting it!

Fireman4u, I would make an effort to get PG ASAP if you are not using it yet. Once you see what it does I bet you will be 'creeped out'. Everyone is interested in what you are doing.
I want to thank you for helping me with this thread. I was having all kinds of problems with utorrent when I never had one before. I just built new system and as I usally do I go and get latest software. I have now went back to 1.6.1 489 and everything works great agn. Thank you guys for helping me and I now belong to afterdawn forums as well. I would also recommend peergaurdian 2 as well. I know people who have gotten in trouble with the mpaa up here downloading things but they have never gotten me and the only reason I can figure is that peer has saved my butt, my ISP people would also agree that its pg2 that has kept me off thier list. Also it is kind of hard to find 1.6.1 build 489 but you will find it, the link here is not up(filehippo might be slow today as well). I can upload it if anyone needs as well.
I am shying away from Pirate Bay since Peerguardian seems to go crazy if I have more than a few jobs from that source. Something new and bad is going to happen soon/soonish. Maybe they are just making a nauthy list for a rainy day.
