hello i just modded my xbox and i want to find a way to dl some games that i own of course. Since some of my games are in bad condition or unreadable i wanted to mod my 360 to play backups so i did it. Now my question is, since im in college, using a college internet connection in the dorms, i can't use bit torrent. I don't know why but they said they block anything with bit torrent because it messes up other people's internet. Well i started searching the forums about newsgroup and itchycats and various others. My question is, since i can't use bit torrent or stuff like limewire, would that mean that newsgroup and itchycats would also be unusable. Thanks in advance

Sure you're just downloading games you legally own when it's way quicker to rip them with a a Kreon drive, but ok. As to the question a college may throttle newsgroups greatly making them pretty unusable for large files like games, but I doubt they'd totally block access.

When i was in college i worked in the IT dept so i knew all their tricks. i would get kicked offline for downloading so i knew where the switch was for my dorm i would get into the room under the stairwell where it was and switch my port and i was good again and it was like playing cat and mouse with the same people i worked with and they didnt know lol. but then one day they got this thing called a packeteer....all downloads ended as this device throttles all packets coming in and out of the network no matter their source or destination or traffic type....so they can block anything they wish. my campus had what i liked to call a network nazi administrator.......he was an ex military guy and said "our network is for educational purposes only, Not entertainment value" oh yea F*&(CK OFF i said LOL
oh and the reason why he said you are retarded for downloading on campus is because a lot a lot of schools now work with the MPAA and RIAA to catch downloaders and they will turn you in cause they do not want to nor will they take the heat cause you want to watch sopranos lol

i donwloaded everything when i was at my old college, our house we lived in was the central hub for the whole north side of campus so we had a download speed of like 28.5 mbps and uploading at like 14.5 mbps. and being a private college, they simply told the mpaa to f*ck off whenever they got an email or anything from them.

yea my school was private also but it all depends on the atitude of the network admin at the school. and like i said mine was a network nazi

yea, our IT department wasnt all that bright, i had an outlook issue after they upgraded their servers over christmas break, and they couldnt figure out what to do to solve the problem as they 'only' use eudora. and within about 5 minutes someone in the OS programs section of this site had the issue figured out for me.

yea i hate it, but i have to use that on my laptop now because outlook is being completely stupid and wont open because it cannot find some file that it needs, and i posted in the OS programs section and no-one has responded, but oh well, praise the lord for having a working desktop.

@wabash, why not just re-format/ what file/s you missing?
and yes thats why i said anyone that does that is retarded. Because they are nailing college kids all across america. My local college over last fall had like 40 young adults in the paper over mp3's. 500$ fine for each song i think it was. anyway several people had $10,000 bills to pay, and got kicked out of college. you are better off getting a sub line through someone like verizon wireless. and just get it wirelessly.

u could uninstal the office suite and reinstall maybe and see if that does it. any office components are weird and files seem to be scattered across the whole system in some cases.

yea thats what i ended up doing this morning since my iphone need/wanted all my contacts from outlook, and it worked. i attempted to just 'repair' office before, and it didnt work so i just uninstalled and reinstalled it and all is fine now. wahoo, go me, lol.
