I've tried several FLV to AVI converters and they work fine except that the AVI file is much worse in quality than the FLV.
Anyone know an FLV to AVI converter program that does a good job?
Thanks

That tells us nothing.
Which ones have you tried?
What settings did you use?

I've tried converters by Smart, Pazera, Riva, SoThink, and several free ones. I've not tried any advanced settings, only defaults.
Is it common knowledge that FLV to AVI conversion quality has to suffer?
I guess what would be easier is asking if anyone else is pleased with their FLV to AVI results, and if so what prog do you use?

why did you want to convert flv to other vdieo format? if want to import into the editing software like adobe premiere, you can try SPAM. It will help you input directly without any conversion and quality loss.
however, you still can use SPAM 2 to convert flv to avi with high quality. moreover, it has the editing funcction like trim and crap.

It looks like all You Tube videos are downloadable as FLV files. But are all FLV files on You Tube convertible to other video files, or are some locked so they cannot be converted? Is this is where codecs come in?

Yes, most if not all .FLV files should be able to be converted..Are you having probs converting certain one's?..To play .flv files install ffdshow or use VLC media player..If you want to convert from flv--> avi, use FLVextract and save to avi, no converting/re-encoding involved..
