Some Taiwan users said that the older lite-on firmwares will limit its write speed at 12x on all Ricoh "digital audio" medium (identified by "DA" in the inner ring code). It explains my former complaint with my lite-on with ricoh 24x (DA) media.

A good news that the newer firmwares have the limitation removed. There is no longer a need to disable Smart-burn for these cdr.
