Hi,
I wanted to make some changes in an srt file: For example, I wanted the fonts of certain lines or of certain words to be bold, however - as soon as I have made some such changes in one line - all the fonts of the whole srt file became bold.
Next I have tried to make such changes by using Subtitles Workshop, however, the results were the same.

How can I make such changes only in some words or in some of the lines of such srt (or sub) file.

Thanks in advance

Well depending on the converter sometimes HTML tags work. I often see parts of subs in italics. Usually with <i> High there!</i>.

Try it with bold <b> Stop Now </b>, or try with brackets [b]. Remember to always close with the / when you want the bold to end.

Hi MysticE,

Before I used your tip, whenever I tried to change even one word of a subtitles file into bold (or italics), the whole text of that subtitles file has changed into bold (or italics).

Now, when using your tip (whether with arrows <> or brackets []), to change one or more words in a line into bold or italics), the whole line becames bold or italic, but not the other lines of that subtitles file.

In other words, your tip helps only partially.

Thanks a lot

Well I just tried it. It works fine for itals, I was able to ital one word of a line. You are closing the word with </i> I presume? That's with MPC, but in VLC it did not, the tags were ignored.

I had no luck at all with bold though as nothing seemed to change.

I know that CXD honors the ital tags, but trying to burn in subs with Avidemux it does not. They actually have to stripped out otherwise it will simply show them.

Hi MysticE,

I am afraid I misunderstood you.

I saw in Subtitle Workshop that even if I (using your tip)changed the fonts of only one word (or of only of a few words) of a line into bold or into italics, the whole line became bold or italic.

Only after your last answer it occurred to me that in order to see whether your tip works, I should play the relevant movie with a player. So, now that I played such movie with Winamp, I saw, that where the change I have made was into italic that change indeed effected only the word I have selected.

I didn't try yet to burn the movie (with the subtitle file), so I don't now whether any standalone video player will "recognize" such changes.

I too had no luck at all with changes into bold - as if I have made no change whatsoever.

Thnks a lot
