alright, started with cfw 371m33-2.my son bricked it, not sure how.it freezes after sony logo.tryed reinstalling fw still frooze.tried upgrading to 3.80cfw. no luck.used universal unbricker v3. now have 5.00mss-4.still freezes.reformatted flash1.still frozen.Lflashed it,did nand dump and restore. created new idstorage, still....FROZEN after logo! anybody got any new ideas? please help before i pull the rest of my hair out! thnks in adv.
I might just know the problem. This happened 2 me too. Your son was probably trying to change the wave in XMB background.
There are 2 causes for that: wave is not compatible with your fw or theme setting is not right (some waves require Classic)
Access the recovery & toggle flash0 on from advanced conf. Then in the vsh>resource folder replace system_plugin_bg.rco with the original if u made a backup.
If not just reply to this thread and I will upload it.
DAMNEDEST THING. TOGGLED FLASH0 AND TOOK A LOOK AT THAT PLUGIN JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU WERE TALKIN ABOUT AND THEN EXITED THE RECOVERY MODE AND OUT OF HABIT TRIED TO TURN IT OFF. IT TURNED OFF! TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP.. I'M HAPPY, BUT NOT MEANING TO LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH, NOW I'M CONCERNNED IT MIGHT BE A HARDWARE PROB. ANY IDEAS?

It contains very cool 176 XMB waves and also the original if you look hard enough through the folders. Tested on 5.00m33.
PS to use them access flash0 and the vsh>resource folder. you will see a bunch of files, mostly with .rco format. Replace system_plugin_bg.rco with the ones you downloaded.(you might have to rename the file). Before flashing, make sure the theme is set to Classic. If you mess up, just replace it with original.
WARNING: ACCESS TO flash0 CAN BRICK YOUR PSP IF NOT DONE PROPERLY SO USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
you may also want to get hellcat's recovery flasher and install it so that you can make a backup or your psp's files and restore them if a problem like this happens again. link is in my signature
