I use a different guide to rip to divx than you do so this is the only way I know how to fix a problem like this.
NOTE that you will need to convert your mp3 to .wav before doing this
The following is an extract from one of my guides.
Merging the audio and video tracks while MP3 encoding the audio
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Launch the application VirtualDub and open your video file. Now choose your WAV file by selecting "WAV Audio..." under the "Audio" menu and make sure that "Full processing mode" is checked.
Drag the slider to a part in the movie where you can see peoples lips move clearly while hearing them talk (best would be to find a scene where people talk fast). If the audio is playing to early or to late select "Interleaving?" under the "Audio" menu and enter an appropriate value in the "Audio skew correction" field as seen below. Try different values until the video and audio tracks are in total sync (it would not be uncommon to have values vary between -300 to +300 ms). You can now click on the "OK" button.
Now select "Direct stream copy" under the "Video" menu. By doing this we won't process the video stream.
Select "Conversion..." under the "Audio" menu and check the "44100 Hz" radio button. This will convert the 48 kHz audio to 44.1 kHz. Then click the "OK" button.
Now select "Compression..." under the "Audio" menu and then check the "Show all formats" checkbox. After this you select "MPEG Layer-3" as the compression algorithm and then "128 kBits/s, 44,100 Hz, Stereo" bit rate for the audio track. Click on the "OK" button.
Lastly you save your movie by selecting "Save AVI..." under the "File" menu. VirtualDub will now merge your video and audio tracks while converting and compressing the audio track to MP3, 128kbit/sec. After about 1-2 hours your DVD to DivX rip should be completed.
We now want to check that the audio and video tracks are still in sync. Open up the movie in Windows Media Player and find a scene in the beginning, in the middle and near the end, where people are talking and you can see their lips move. If everything went fine you should see that the audio is in perfect sync with the video.
Thank You Again, and good luck.
