I have recently had my Xbox360 flashed with iExtream 1.5, with an Hitachi drive.
When I first tryed to play a backup game it worked fine apart from one back-up that didnt load. It came up with "Open Tray" error.
Anyways, I wasnt to botherd and contuined to play my other back-up games.
24hrs later I tryed to play one of my backup games that worked perviously, but it came up with the "Open Tray" error again.. I tryed an orgianl 360 game and it works fine, I tryed a DVD and that also worked fine. I did a few tests, like Backup Game then Orginal, Back up etc..
It seems like all the backup discs give me the "Open Tray" error but nothing else does..
Could this be a flash issuie or the disc's themselves?

you couldn't have flashed your drive with 1.5 ixtreme for hitachi because it is simply not available yet, latest ixtreme for hitachi is 1.4, the open try error is due to a laser reading issue, try opening the drive first and clean the laser with some lens solution with a q-tip(in a circular motion), then with dry end of q-tip do same motion to dry, then try a game a disc, if problem still persists, you will need new laser or simply new drive. hope this helps.
I am having similar issues with my Hitachi, in fact exactly the same. I'm just going to confirm that it is my drive this evening with a know working backup, if so its the q-tip (cotton bud) and lens cleaner and if that doesn't work its time to source a multimeter
98sohc is correct though, no 1.5 ver yet for the Hitachi, though Ive seen some rumors knocking round it will be here in the next couple of weeks.
