General Hardware Specifications: Australian fat PSP with 1.5 shell and 5.00 M33 Custom Firmware installed
I'm not quite sure what is wrong with my PSP but whenever I need to input text, the text selection screen shows up just for an instant then disappears.
I'm not quite sure whether this is related, but the sometimes during games, the game acts as if the start button was pressed, even when it wasn't. However, not often enough to cause the text input screen to disappear each and every time that quickly.
NB: If the title is too vague, please advise and I will make adjustments.
I think i see your problem: your text entry screen wont stay open and games act as if the start button has been pressed - the common factor here is that the games are randomly pausing (pressing start) and the start button also acts like the enter button/key in the text entry thus closing the window. So therefor i would recommend getting your psp taken apart somehow and fixing your start button as this seems to be the problem child. Hope this helps
Basically, I already thought I do have to take my PSP apart to fix the start button problem, but I do want to have everything clear before I take it apart.
Except the thing is, the problem child may not be the start button. I'm thinking it maybe a software error or something since the start button, by experience, seems to press itself every 7=< seconds. If that were so, it would have given me some time for me to make a longer nick, but that's not the case (the text input screen allows me just enough time to press 1 button).
yea, since the timing is off when inputing text versus in game pausing the problems aren't related which makes it seems like a software problem so you may want to try resetting your flash1 and settings in the recovery menu and backup/formatting your memory stick and making sure no plugins are enabled so that you can sort out the problem
couldn't say for sure if its temp ro not but simply having you battery in for too long doesn't seem like a plausible cause either so i guess time will tell.
Ok so the problem appeared and both problems have to do with the start button. I have acquired a tempfix for it, which is to press the start button down really hard if it acts up, and this applies to the text input as well.
Although now I've managed to sort of "lift" the start button up, and that's worked well in solving the problem.
Thanks again to anyone who helped me\viewed this thread!
