Fixing Frozen Spots On PSX Games

Okay, Is there a way to fix frozen spots on PSX Games?

For example, I'm in the middle of playing Resident Evil 3. I'm using the Popstation That allows you to choose which pops to use before playing a game by pushing and holding "R".

Now, in RE3 only Pops 371 and 252 seem tho run the game, every other pops fails. I'm at a spot in Resident Evil 3 that neither of these pops can get past, (right after the train crashes, after fighting the nemesis), It just goes to a black screen and feezes there.

I really wanna finish this game...

If theres somthing I can do to fix this little problem, Please share with me, as I'm sure I'm not the only one having these kinds od problems...
