It's difficult to read other peoples post without getting a little confused sometimes so apologies if I bringing up something that has been posted 20 times already.

I had my first success with modding a Hitachi 78k drive though it was short lived because of this update that I now have to do.


My biggest question is about Jungle Flasher. Like I said its just for confirmation I'm not quite confident about using methods that differ from the original ones.

So Jungle Flasher eliminates booting up in DOS correct?

You can't use JF yet for 78k hack with Hitachi?

You do still need to use the spear/xbox360 extractor?

Now that you have Jungles Flasher do you need you still need iprep?

Do you still need a usb drive?

1.51,1.5 different or the same?

Sorry there just seems like a lot of missing info just can't seem to get a clear picture.

Yes, that is correct.

It supports the 79 so I'm sure it supports the 78. Personally, I have never used JF for a Hitachi. But I believe it can read the firmware and now with version 0.0.43, it can flash the firmware. I have always used Firmware Toolbox 4.8 for Hitachis.

Yes, but you only need to to extract the proper information for the Lite-ON drive.

It is your preference. Either one will work.

Different. iXtreme 1.51 will allow games with the 3rd wave video partition to boot.
