ive done the x clamp trick. taking out the x clamps and replacing them with bolts and washers. and ive even tried the towel trick but nothing is working. my warrenty has expired. is there any hope for my xbox 360

I had done both and I also had no luck, I then tried the penny trick and my xbox is working months later :)

One more thing if your xbox doesn't work after the penny fix, let your xbox run for 20 minutes and then let it cool down, after fire it up and see if it works.

You have probably ruined your chances of having a properly working console by doing the "Towel Trick".

yea towel trick will heat the whole system and all components which is very bad for the capacitors and such as oppose to just overheating the cpu/gpu.

but ajw22 is right try the penny tick and after you get it all back into the metal casing with the screws holding the board inplace then move the fan so it is blowing only on the CPU(big heatsink) not blowing away from it but on it which means turning the fan around opposite direction as normal for like 20 minutes. then turn it off and dont move it around untill it has cooled for 20 more minutes. if the solder is lose and hasnt cooled and you start moving it around it will just make it worse. also have you cleaned the old thermal paste off the chips to a mirror shine and applied new thermal paste? if not then combining that with the towel trick has almost surely ruined the box

thx for the advise. hopfully i can get it running again. ill let you know what happens. if i cant get it running would it be smart to go with a ps3 instead of another xbox. though i really enjoy xbox live gameplay.

this is a 360 forum i dont know if you will find a lot of ps3 supporters.. but recently the hdd was hacked so maybe that will lead to loadable iso direct from hdd for ps3 who knows

If it does then I'll end up with one as there are a couple of games I would like to play but it's not wotrrth buying for 4 games only.
