When people talk about wii firmware what are they referring to? Are you talking about the firmware on the wii dvd drive? Can you flash the fibasic questionrmware on the wii dvd drive spasifecly? i know this is a

The wii firmware is not the DVD drive firmware and the wii DVD drive firmware cannot be reflashed.

When people talk about the wii firmware they're talking about the firmware that the console runs on. This consists of the main firmware version (this is what people mean when they talk about 3.2U or whatnot) as well as IOS firmware patches. There are also cIOS firmware patches which are custom patches and allow the wii to do things that it normally couldnt, such as reading burned disks without a modchip.
