i have trouble running this game. i have a wii wiikey 1 3.2U.
the game has an update i believe its 3.4U. i dont have hombrew
channels or whatsoever and when i patch it with wii brickblocker
when i start the game it gives me the black screen. i dont want
to update it to 3.4U because i see most people having problems
on their wiis. some say install preloader/starfall but
i dont know how. tnx!

If you dont have homebrew and the game is the same region as your wii then you have NOTHING to worry about from updates. No update to date has EVER effected the function of a modchip even in the slightest.

Some recent updates have impacted homebrew function, but that can be repaired as well with a few custom patches.

Again, its important that your wii's region matches that of the game, but so long as they do theres no danger from updating.

I installed these IOSes, which can be found in the game ISO image:

IOS55-64-v4633.wad
IOS38-64-v3609.wad
IOS53-64-v4113.wad

...and the game runs fine.

If you don't already have HBC, you're gonna have to find another way to install these (maybe autoboot wad manager?)

Yes, modchips seem to be pretty resistant to firmware updates. All games still work even with the newest firmwares.

I'm actually having problems with a proper retail copy of this just loading to black screen.

I've only got a softmod with homebrew channel, etc, so I can play other region discs, but this is a PAL retail disc in a PAL machine and it just stops on a black screen.

Am I supposed to somehow repress the mods for it to work?

(I've tried running the disc out of the backup loader and it displays a blue screen with error 02)
