I have a bunch of Tivo files i'v transfered over to my PC with the Tivo desktop software, but i need a way to convert them to AVI or whatever so i can edit out the commercials and save them... I'v tried Direct show dump and it seems to strip the DRM but whe i put the file into My video editing software (Sony Vegas 9.0a) i get no Audio track. Is there a codec i'm missing? Is there Better software to do so? I'm kinda lost here so any help would be great! thanks for your time.

Try VideoRedo Plus. According to the web page it handles tivo files from Tivo2Go. You can edit out youir commercials then save the result as an mpg file which you can convert with other software to avo or whatever you want.

Best of luck & I hope you like it. As to VideoRedo I use it for removing commercials from DVD's I've recorded from my cable TV dvr to a DVD recorder. Once I have the mpeg I convert several of them into a video DVD with Convertx2DVD3. Yes that does waste a DVD (to record one then rip to the hard drive) but it works well enough for me as I've never owned a Tivo.

I have a DirecTV DVR with no way to xfer to PC either.. So, doing the same as you... But rather than waste discs, I'm using RW in the DVD recorder so I can re-use.. and editing out the commercials as I record the disc..

Then just have to rip to the HDD and convert.

Well I've never used RW's in my Magnavox DVD recorder. Just write once + or - R's. Mainly as I record more than just TV shows (movies too) off of the cable DVR. Easy to take commercials out with VideoRedo on the computer after the disc gets ripped to the HDD. I buy 600 discs at a time from either Meritline or Supermediastore so it doesn't bother me to waste a few of those with two to four TV shows on a disc for ripping & commercial deletion.

alright i tried the demo first for VideoRedo and i wouldn't let me do much with the trial... So my thought what i would do is transfer the show from my tivo to my PC and then with driectshowdump i converted to an mepeg. But my problem is now i have a HD program any where from 3.5GB to 6.5GB is size... So i use DR.DIVX to compress it to 700MB. now i want to use Sony Vegas 9.0a and edit out and fix up and whatever... but it maybe a codec issue, because when i render down to avi the file size jumps and it's insanely large... and if i re compress it with Dr.DIVX the quality is crap... i know you say Videoredo is good but its $50 and the demo wouldn't let me do much is there anything you guys can think of? maybe a codec with some control i could use with vegas?

thanks for the time and help guys!
