I'm new to the idea of flashing my xbox. I've been looking about the interwebby for a while now with designs on doing it... have'nt taken the plunge and voided my warranty yet. just wanted some advice.
I'm pretty sure (going by the manufacturing date on the back of the console only) that i have the Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L 0079FK type drive in my console.. firstly, is this flashable yet? is there any designs on it being flashable. I've read a couple of blogs / tutorials tha say it isn't yet, but i figured i'd try and get something a bit more up to date.
secondly, I was thinking about getting the Xecuter blaster, I'm not a fan of doing the same job a hunnerd times, thought this'd be the easiest way, but i'm a bit perplexed about the actual hooking up of drive to PC, will a standard USB cable do it... if not any chance of pointing me in the right direction.
Lastly, theres so many firmwares about for flashing with, I've read a lot about the IXtreme (v1.5 and the much anticipated 1.6), but i've also read about C4Eva, and jungle flash... WTF is the differance, is there any, if so, whats the best to use in a novices world.
any help would be cool. I'm just trying to expand my horizons and learn a wee bit about screwing the microsoft corporation in playing my completely legitimate back-ups though, so if it gets toooooooo technical, i might get a bit lost.
1st, the Hitachi 79 is flashable and has been for some time.
secondly, you dont need to waste your money on that crap, once your drive is flashed it will be a long time before you need to do it again, when it does need to be flashed just open the case up and flash it, after you have done it a few times it will take all of 15 min to take apart and flash.
lastly, you need to wait untill ixtreme 1.51 comes out , i heard it will prob be by sunday, there is also 1.6 comming in the near future but from what i understand it will mainly be for 0800 feature for all firmware so you can use the 360 drive to make backups.
i dont know what tute you have been reading but its got to be a bit old, look here for a up to date one.
read up on this tute and you should not have any problems, there are linkt in there to all the programs you need and where to get your firmware.
yeah the only tutorials i've been finding are all at least a year old... which is helpful for getting a basic idea, but a basic idea isn't gonna do much when i have to deal with new hardware...
I got xecuters connectivity kitv.3, got the sata card that was suggested.
I'm having trouble getting the PC to recognise my drive. I've followed several tutes, all of which failed... I've made sure im not making stupid mistakes like not plugging it in, etc.
any help?
also, I've read a lot about differant flashers, any tips on what would be best to use, or what combination?
I've made a slax CD, don't knwo what goes on with that?!?! and the 79unlock CD... i can kinda get the jist of what happens there. I've downloaded 360firmwaretoolbox....!?
I'm getting a bit flustered, and generally stressed. but refuse to give up.
re read the tutorial, if you followed it to the letter it would be flashed already.
did you unlock the drive with the unlock 79 cd?
is your drive detected in the port propeties?
what sata card do you have?
do you have the portio32 drivers installed?
